Your website is often the first impression a customer has of your business. It does not need to be complicated, but it does need to answer a visitor’s questions quickly and make the next step obvious. Here are eight things every small business website should have.
1. A clear headline
Within a few seconds, visitors should know what you do, who you do it for and where. “Family dentistry in Troy, Michigan” beats a vague slogan every time.
2. An obvious call to action
Tell people what to do next: call, book, request a quote. Put that button in the header and repeat it down the page.
3. Contact details on every page
Your phone number and email should be easy to find, and tappable on mobile. Include your address if customers visit you.
4. A mobile-friendly design
Most visitors will arrive on a phone. Text should be readable without zooming, and buttons should be easy to tap.
5. Fast loading
Slow sites lose visitors. Compress images, avoid heavy page builders where possible, and use good hosting and caching.
6. Service pages with real detail
Explain what each service includes, who it is for and what happens next. Detailed pages help customers decide and help search engines understand what you offer.
7. Trust signals
Genuine reviews, photos of your team and work, certifications and a clear About page all help visitors feel confident choosing you.
8. Analytics and basic SEO
Set up Google Analytics and Search Console, give every page a unique title and description, and make sure your site has an XML sitemap. You cannot improve what you do not measure.
